Telecommunications and Transportation

During the 1990s Mexico lived a complete change in its telecommunications sector. With the privatization of the government monopoly, the publication of the Federal Telecommunications Law, the creation of the Federal Telecommunications Commission and the World Trade Organization Commitments, Mexico’s telecommunication market was open to competition.

This new competition has contributed to an unexpected growth in the industry and has made it necessary for the companies to require specialized legal counseling just for understanding the Telecommunications Law and all its surrounding regulation.

The rapid growth of the telecommunications sector demands a quick and effective response, unfortunately, being such a new field in Mexico, there are not many law firms or even lawyers that have such expertise. As of today, the main provider of specialized personnel is the Federal Telecommunications Commission and the few people who have gone abroad to pursue post graduate programs in the field.

Fortunately, BGBG has the expertise to satisfy the need of Telecommunication companies. BGBG is also an active member in forming professionals through its active participation in the Master of Telecommunications and New Technologies Law at Universidad Anahuac del Sur, as well as its participation in some Masters and Courses at the Universidad Iberoamericana, setting the standards for the new telecomm practitioners.

BGBG counts with the experience that allows us to offer, both national and foreign clients, among other, the following telecommunication services:

Services:

  • Preparing and filing for all kinds of licenses before the Communications and Transport Secretariat (SCT) for various services: satellites, cable tv, local telephony, long distance, data transmissions, etc.;
  • Concession and permits maintenance, that is, keeping up with all the obligations that have to be complied with while holding a license;
  • International and national public bids or any other government contract related with any telecommunication activity;
  • Representation of companies at international organizations such as the Interamerican Telecommunications Commission, the International Telecommunications Union, etc.;
  • Comparative analysis of foreign regulation.

To sum up, in BGBG we offer integral telecommunications services to our clients, assuring that if they work together with us, they will obtain the best results to competetively participate in the new demanding Mexican market.
